Masterplan Update
We are now close to completing our work on the Sellindge masterplan and would like to thank you for your participation in our consultation over the course of the Sellindge masterplanning project.
We have enjoyed working closely with the Village Team and particularly appreciate the good will and enthusiasm shown by so many. We believe that the resulting masterplan will ensure any future development at Sellindge provides tangible benefits for local residents and are broadly supported by public opinion. The views and comments expressed throughout the process have been taken on board and are reflected in the final masterplan.
Shepway District Council as local planning authority will be including the masterplan as a key element of its evidence base for the Local Development Framework (LDF) and in particular will be using it to inform the policy for Sellindge included in the Core Strategy. There will be the opportunity for the public to make formal representations to the planning inspectorate on the final draft Core Strategy at the end of summer.
About the Sellindge Masterplan
Urban Initiatives, an urban design and town planning consultancy, has been appointed by Shepway Council and the Homes and Communities Agency to produce a masterplan for Sellindge to inform Shepway's Core Strategy. In light of previous consultation the Council is keen to consider the options for growth in Sellindge through a masterplan approach. This masterplan has therefore been commissioned to:- To engage with local people to establish a consensual approach to change;
- To confirm the potential for, and broad nature of, development to enable the delivery of a public open space providing a physical and practical focus in central Sellindge;
- To identify the most suitable and deliverable sites to achieve the Core Strategy objectives;
- To guide the Shepway Local Development Framework (LDF) policy relating to the managed growth and improvement of the village over the long term;
- To potentially inform more detailed proposals that may be submitted by the landowners in relation to planning applications, once the policy has been set out in the LDF
About the Website
The Sellindge Future website was set up to keep people up to date on progress on the Sellindge Masterplan. The website has been independently established by Urban Initiatives to create a place where villagers can:
- get the latest documents
- keep up to date with information emerging from Village Team Workshops
- leave their comments and complete questionnaires on the emerging plans
- see presentations and read minutes from Village Team meetings
- find out about forthcoming consultation events
- get in touch with the masterplan team at Urban Initiatives
